Karlsruher Institut fuer Technologie

 

On October 01, 2009, the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) was founded by a merger of Forschungszentrum Karlsruhe and Universität Karlsruhe. As the oldest technical university in Germany, founded in 1825, the profile of Universität Karlsruhe (TH) is determined primarily by the technical and natural sciences as well as by engineering. The university offers studies to over 18,000 national and international students.

The Institut für Kolbenmaschinen, being a part of the faculty of mechanical engineering, is dedicated to research and development in the area of internal combustion engines. The institute has a long experience in experimental and numerical methods to analyze engine processes.

The research and development work in the field of internal combustion engines focuses in
